The house at Sandbogaard was built by the Royal General Chamber of Costums in 1802 as a residence and stable for the keeper of the new lighthouse at Hammeren. In 1873, the lighthouse keeper’s residence was sold to ConsulKrebs. In 1876, the farm was bought by stonemason Julius Andersen. His son, Emil Julius Andersen, took over the property in 1914 and in about 1935 he and his wife, Ingrid, started a guest house. It remained in the Andersen family for many generations, but has subsequently been in various hands, until we bought it on the 1st of June, 2014.
Local rumor says, that some of the oldest buildings (Sandbogaard) in Sandvig are built from stone taken by farmers from the ruins of Hammershus castle.
What do we want with Pension Sandbogaard
The place is steeped in history and we have guests who drop by and talk about past holidays. Our top priorities of Pension Sandbogaard is a personal and relaxed atmosphere and service. We have already received many positive opinions.
The guest house’s atmosphere and decor are over in “grandmother style” . There are a number of old furniture and handicrafts . And when decorating rooms I go to markets and by old and retro furniture, so that it fits the history of the pension. Another place where “the grandma style” is showing, is the breakfast. Most of the bread and the jam are homemade and without unnecessary additives , but with ingredients made on Bornholm . It is an honor to be able to satisfy most requirements and therefore I can accommodate gluten and lactose intollerante, if I get noticed 1 day in advance .
